Giovanni Battista Cipriani Drawings
This pair of 18th-century oval-framed drawings are attributed to Giovanni Battista Cipriani, a renowned Italian artist known for his work in the Rococo style. The drawings depict classical scenes with figures and cherubs, executed in delicate pencil work. The frames are gilded and show signs of age, adding to the antique charm of the pieces. These drawings showcase Cipriani’s skill in capturing movement and emotion through line and shading.
Condition and Collectibility
These drawings exhibit signs of age and wear consistent with their age, including some foxing and discoloration of the paper. The frames show wear to the gilding, but remain structurally sound. Despite these imperfections, the drawings retain their artistic integrity and are highly collectible due to their attribution to a well-regarded artist and their historical significance. They would be a valuable addition to a collection of 18th-century art or Italian drawings.
