Antique Carriage Lanterns
This pair of antique carriage lanterns exhibit the classic design used to illuminate horse-drawn carriages during the Victorian era. Constructed with a brass or brass-plated frame and featuring glass panels, these lanterns would have provided a soft, diffused light source. The construction suggests a robust build quality intended for outdoor use and the movement of a carriage, with a hinged door allowing access for a light source (now absent).
Condition & Collectibility
These lanterns present with a patina consistent with age and use. The glass panels show signs of wear, and the metal frame exhibits some corrosion and wear, which is typical for items of this age. Despite this, they remain visually appealing and would be of interest to collectors of antique lighting, transportation memorabilia, or those seeking unique decorative pieces.
