Vintage Panasonic SG-J500L Cassette Radio and Turntable Boombox

This lot is a Panasonic SG-J500L cassette radio turntable boombox, a portable audio system of the type popular in the 1980s. The unit has a black finish, a chrome-effect carry handle and two large speaker grilles set either side of a central cassette deck. The front panel carries an auto-stop cassette mechanism, a tuning scale covering FM, MW and LW bands, and a row of push-button controls for tape, phono, FM, MW and LW selection. Volume and tone sliders sit along the lower edge, alongside phones and microphone sockets. The lower section is fitted with a turntable, giving the system a combined radio, cassette and record playback function.

Condition and Collectability

This Panasonic boombox shows the surface dust and general wear associated with its age and outdoor storage, particularly to the speaker grilles and casing. The front panel lettering and dial markings remain legible, and the control buttons and sliders appear complete. No testing has been carried out, and the unit is offered as seen. Its combination of cassette, radio and turntable functions in a single large-format unit will appeal to collectors of vintage Panasonic audio equipment, retro music enthusiasts and buyers looking for a characterful piece for display or restoration.

Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.

#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
