Pioneer X5 Series Stacked Hi-Fi Separates
This lot comprises a stacked Pioneer X5 series hi-fi system of four separate components, consisting of a CT-X5 stereo cassette tape deck, an A-X5 stereo amplifier, an F-X5L auto-function digital synthesis tuner and a PL-X5 automatic stereo turntable. The cassette deck features a tape counter, operation mode controls and a tape selector offering Normal, CrO2 and Metal settings, with a large illuminated display window on the front panel. The amplifier is fitted with bass, treble and balance controls, a loudness switch, a large volume knob and headphone and input jacks, while the tuner carries a digital display and a row of preset buttons. The turntable sits beneath a clear dust cover. The units are finished in champagne-tone fronts with black fascias, typical of Pioneer’s separates from the period.
Condition and Collector Interest
The components show signs of age and use consistent with their years, including marks and scuffs to the top panel of the cassette deck and general surface wear across the stack. Cosmetic blemishes are visible to several units, and no assurance is given as to the operation of any component. The matching X5 series styling makes this a cohesive set of separates that may appeal to collectors of vintage Japanese hi-fi, or to buyers looking to restore or display a complete period system.
