Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes Collars
This lot comprises three vintage Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (R.A.O.B) ceremonial collars. Each collar is constructed from a deep blue velvet material, adorned with intricate gold-coloured embroidery depicting symbols and letters – ‘S’, ‘C’, ‘M’, and ‘W’ – representing different ranks or positions within the order. The collars feature a chainette fringe and each is finished with a decorative pendant, displaying further emblems and detailing. These collars would have been worn during ceremonial events and meetings by members of the R.A.O.B.
Condition and Collectibility
These collars exhibit signs consistent with age and use, including some fading to the velvet and minor wear to the embroidery. The pendants show varying degrees of wear to the enamel and some minor damage. Despite these imperfections, the collars remain visually striking and represent a fascinating piece of fraternal history. They would be of interest to collectors of Masonic and fraternal regalia, or those with an interest in the history of the R.A.O.B.
