Russian Hand Painted Lacquer Box
This is a beautifully hand-painted Russian lacquer box, crafted using the traditional papier-mache technique. The box features a detailed scene, likely depicting a Russian Orthodox church or cathedral, rendered in vibrant colours and intricate detail. These boxes are a hallmark of Russian craftsmanship, often produced in workshops around the city of Palekh, known for its distinctive style of miniature painting. The artistry and skill involved in creating these boxes make them highly sought after by collectors of folk art and Russian memorabilia.
Condition and Collectibility
This vintage box shows signs of age and wear, which are consistent with its age and use. There may be minor imperfections in the paint or lacquer, adding to its character and authenticity.
