Satsuma Vases
This lot comprises three beautifully decorated Satsuma vases from the Meiji period. Each vase features intricate hand-painted scenes depicting figures in traditional dress, set against a black background. The vases exhibit the characteristic Satsuma technique, known for its vibrant colours and detailed artistry. The central vase is taller and features a landscape scene, while the two smaller vases are more squat in form and display similar figural motifs.
Condition & Collectibility
These vases show signs of age and wear consistent with their antique status. There may be minor imperfections in the glaze or slight wear to the painted decoration, but these do not detract significantly from their overall aesthetic appeal. Satsuma ware is highly sought after by collectors of Japanese art, and these vases would be a valuable addition to any collection. Their vibrant colours and detailed artistry make them visually striking pieces.
