Pair of Japanese Satsuma Kutani Vases
This striking pair of vases showcases the intricate artistry of Japanese Satsuma and Kutani porcelain. The vases are adorned with detailed, hand-painted scenes depicting ladies in traditional attire within lush garden landscapes. The vibrant colours, elaborate gilding, and the distinctive Satsuma technique – involving multiple layers of overglaze enamels – exemplify the high level of craftsmanship associated with these pieces. The vases feature sculpted handles, adding to their ornate aesthetic.
Condition and Collectibility
These vases exhibit signs consistent with age and use, including minor wear to the gilding and enamel. Despite this, the overall condition is good, and the intricate details remain remarkably well-preserved. These vases would be a desirable addition to a collection of Japanese art, appealing to those who appreciate the beauty and skill of Satsuma and Kutani porcelain. Their vibrant scenes and elegant form make them a captivating decorative piece.
