Scottish Rifles N.C.O’s Glengarry Badge

This is a solid cast glengarry badge from the Cameronian (Scottish Rifles) regiment, dating to the First World War period. The badge features a central starburst design, encircled by a wreath of thistle and foliage, and a banner displaying the regimental motto. The badge is constructed from a base metal, likely brass or bronze, and displays intricate detailing throughout the foliage and heraldic elements. It was designed to be affixed to the glengarry headdress worn by Non-Commissioned Officers (N.C.O’s) of the regiment.

Condition and Collectability

The badge shows signs of age and wear consistent with its period and likely use. There is some surface corrosion and patina present, which adds to its antique character. This badge is a desirable piece for collectors of British military insignia, particularly those specialising in Scottish regiments and First World War items. Its solid cast construction and detailed design make it a visually appealing and historically significant example of its type.
