Vintage Horse Brasses
This lot comprises a selection of vintage horse brasses, likely dating from the Victorian or early 20th century. These decorative brasses were traditionally affixed to horse tack, such as harnesses and bridles, serving both an ornamental and potentially identifying purpose. The designs vary, showcasing a range of motifs including floral patterns, geometric shapes, and possibly heraldic emblems, typical of the era’s craftsmanship.
Condition and Collectibility
These horse brasses exhibit signs consistent with age and use, including patina and minor wear, which adds to their character and authenticity. While not pristine, they remain visually appealing and represent a charming piece of equestrian history. Collectors often seek these brasses for their decorative value, historical significance, and as a tangible link to a bygone era of horse-drawn transport and rural life.
