Description
This is a small, decorative fruit knife featuring a hallmarked silver blade and a beautifully iridescent mother of pearl handle. The handle is composed of two sections, securely riveted to the blade tang. The silver blade is designed for peeling and cutting fruit, and the overall aesthetic suggests a piece from the late Victorian or early Edwardian period. The hallmarks on the blade indicate its silver content and origin, adding to its historical significance.
Condition
This fruit knife shows signs of age and use, with some minor surface scratches and patina to the silver blade. The mother of pearl handle exhibits some natural variations in colour and may have minor imperfections consistent with its organic origin. Despite these minor imperfections, the knife remains a charming example of antique silver cutlery, and would be of interest to collectors of vintage knives, silver, or mother of pearl items.
