Silver Tone Eagle Brooch
This lot is a silver tone eagle brooch, offered as a single piece of costume jewellery. The design shows an eagle with its wings partly raised, perched on a branching antler motif that forms an open-work frame around the bird.
The eagle is modelled in relief with textured feathers across the wings and body, and the talons grip the antler branches. The antlers curve around the figure, giving the brooch an open silhouette. A pin fitting is visible on the reverse for fastening. The piece is finished in a silver tone metal.
Condition and Originality
The surface shows some darkening and toning, most noticeable in the recesses of the feather detail and between the antler branches, which is consistent with age and handling. No further damage is evident in the photographs, but the lot should be examined closely before bidding, and further images or a viewing can be requested from the saleroom.
The brooch retains its original form and pin fitting as presented. Its wildlife theme and antler-framed design may appeal to collectors of animal-themed brooches and British country-style jewellery, as well as to those looking for an individual piece to add to a collection.
