Collection of Studio Pottery Bowls, Dishes and Pots
This lot comprises a collection of studio pottery, including bowls, dishes and pots in a range of forms and glazes. The selection includes two handled bowls with pale blue and green glazes, a large brown glazed bowl set within a yellow glazed bowl, a yellow glazed bowl, and a terracotta dish. Further pieces include a white bowl with a blue scroll motif, two leaf-decorated jugs, a green glazed vase, a lidded square box with textured surface decoration, a brown glazed lidded pot, a terracotta bud vase, a small brown bowl and a leaf-decorated dish. Some of the pieces are reported to be signed.
Condition, Originality and Collector Interest
The pieces show the variation in glaze, form and surface one would expect from hand-thrown and hand-decorated studio work, and the lot is offered as a mixed group. Each piece should be examined closely on viewing, as glaze wear and minor surface marks are to be expected on pottery of this type. The reported signatures may be of interest to collectors researching individual makers, and the diversity of the group makes it suitable for those building a representative collection of studio ceramics or for those seeking practical, decorative pieces for display or everyday use.
