Introduction
This charming lot comprises two studio pottery figurines: a depiction of Paddington Bear and an Archbishop of Westminster. Both figures exhibit a hand-crafted aesthetic, with textured surfaces and expressive modelling. The Paddington Bear figure is approximately 6” tall and captures the beloved character’s iconic look, while the Archbishop figure, also hand-built, is dressed in ecclesiastical robes and holds a cross. These pieces likely date from the mid-20th century and showcase the skill of a studio potter.
Condition
Both figurines display signs of age and wear consistent with vintage ceramics. There are minor imperfections in the glaze and some surface dirt, but no significant damage such as cracks or chips. These pieces are collectible due to their unique hand-made quality and representation of popular cultural figures. They would appeal to collectors of studio pottery, character figurines, or those with an interest in mid-century design.
