Antique Sword Paper Knives
This lot comprises four decorative sword paper knives, each featuring a miniature blade and ornate handle. The handles exhibit varying designs, including what appears to be gilded metalwork and potentially ivory or bone inlays. These pieces are reminiscent of 18th and 19th-century desk accessories, intended for opening correspondence and adding a touch of elegance to a study or office. The blades are slender and designed for delicate cutting, suggesting their primary function was for paper rather than combat.
Condition and Collectibility
These sword paper knives show signs consistent with age and use. There is evidence of patina and minor wear to the metalwork, and some handles may exhibit slight imperfections or losses. Despite these characteristics, the pieces retain their aesthetic appeal and historical charm. They would be of interest to collectors of antique desk accessories, miniature weaponry, or those seeking unique decorative items for their home or office.
