Taxidermy Scorpion, Butterfly and Resin Spider Display
This lot comprises three taxidermy insect displays. The first is a black scorpion mounted against a cream card backing within a dark wooden box with a glazed front, labelled “SCORPION Malaysia”. The second is a spider sealed within a square clear resin block and presented in a dark box lined with white satin. The third is a butterfly mounted in a black wooden frame behind glass, with a typed label reading “Glorious Begum”. The scorpion displays its pincers and segmented tail in full, while the butterfly shows its patterned wings in an open, spread pose. The spider is set centrally within the resin, with its legs visible through the clear block.
Condition and Collector Appeal
Minor marks and general signs of handling are visible on the boxes and frames, and the satin lining of the spider box shows some creasing. No further condition details have been established from the images. Displays of this kind are often sought by collectors of natural history curiosities, entomological specimens and vintage souvenir cabinets, and the grouping of three different arachnid and insect specimens in individual presentation cases gives the lot a distinctive character for display or study.
