Signal Finial Description
This is a large, vintage cast iron signal finial, originating from the Wendover train station. The finial is constructed from heavy cast iron, featuring a distinctive tiered design. The base is painted red, transitioning to a cream colour towards the pointed top. This piece would have originally sat atop a signal post, guiding trains safely into and out of the station.
Condition and Collectibility
The finial exhibits signs of age and weathering, consistent with its outdoor use and vintage status. The paint shows areas of loss and wear, adding to its character and authentic patina. This piece is highly sought after by railwayana collectors and those interested in preserving railway history. It presents a unique opportunity to own a piece of transport heritage.
