Victorian School Slate

This is a charming Victorian-era school slate, likely used by a child in the late 19th or early 20th century. The slate features a wooden frame, providing structure and protection to the fragile slate surface. These slates were a common educational tool, allowing children to practice writing and arithmetic using chalk. The simple construction and worn appearance speak to its history and use in a classroom or home learning environment.

Condition and Collectibility

The slate exhibits signs of age and use, with surface wear and minor imperfections consistent with its age. The wooden frame shows some wear and possible minor losses, but remains structurally sound. This slate is a desirable collectible for those interested in educational history, Victorian ephemera, or antique school supplies. Its authentic patina and historical significance make it a unique and evocative piece.
