## Victorian Letter Scales – A Glimpse into Postal History
These Victorian letter scales represent a fascinating piece of postal history. Crafted from brass and set upon a dark wood base, these scales were likely used in a post office or by a professional requiring accurate weight measurements for postage. The delicate balance arm, circular pans, and accompanying weights demonstrate the precision engineering of the era. The scales feature a decorative flourish, adding to their aesthetic appeal and showcasing the craftsmanship of the time.
## Condition and Collectibility
The scales are in good antique condition, showing signs of age and use which add to their character. The brass has a lovely patina, and the wood base is solid. These scales would be a wonderful addition to a collection of antique postal items, scientific instruments, or brassware. They also make a unique and interesting decorative piece for a home or office, offering a tangible connection to the past.
