Victorian Maison Martinet Stereoscopic Viewer
This is a Victorian-era stereoscopic viewer, crafted from walnut and bearing the Maison Martinet hallmark. The viewer features a hinged design, allowing access to the viewing lenses and card slot. It is accompanied by a substantial collection of stereoscopic photo cards, offering a glimpse into scenes and subjects popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The rich walnut finish and detailed construction exemplify the quality craftsmanship of the period.
Condition and Collectibility
The viewer and cards exhibit signs consistent with age and use, including surface wear, minor scratches, and some fading to the photographic images. Despite these characteristics, the viewer remains structurally sound and the cards are largely intact. This set would be of interest to collectors of antique optics, photographic memorabilia, and Victorian-era ephemera, offering a tangible connection to the history of photography and visual entertainment.
