Vintage Aiwa Portable CD Radio Cassette Boombox
This lot is a vintage Aiwa portable CD radio cassette boombox, a compact all-in-one stereo system of the kind popular for home and portable listening. The unit is finished in silver and grey with a black lower panel, and has a carry handle across the top. Its twin speaker grilles sit either side of a central control panel, which carries the Aiwa badge. The cassette controls are labelled Pause, Stop/Eject, F Fwd, Rewind and Play, with a Rec button. The panel also shows Standby, Ope/Batt and Radio functions, along with Equalizer, T-Bass and QSound settings. A Q Sound Virtual Stereo mark appears on the front, and a rotary volume control sits to the left of the panel. A mains lead and plug are attached.
Condition and Collector Interest
The boombox shows general signs of age and handling, including some wear and marking to the silver-grey casing and control panel. It is offered in the condition shown, and it has not been described as tested or in working order, so prospective buyers should satisfy themselves as to its condition before bidding. The combination of cassette, radio and CD functions in a single unit, together with its Q Sound and bass settings, may appeal to collectors of 1990s Aiwa audio equipment and to those seeking a retro portable stereo for display or restoration.
