Five Vintage Apothecary Bottles with Mackenzie Smelling Salts

This lot of five vintage apothecary bottles brings together a varied selection of early chemist and household glassware. The group includes a small green glass bottle with a worn paper label, a tall green ribbed bottle with a square shoulder, a blue glass bottle labelled Klorodyne B.P.C., a teal hexagonal glass ink pot with a flared rim, and a Mackenzie Smelling Salts bottle in its brown leather pouch. The Klorodyne bottle carries a Boots label, and the Mackenzie bottle retains its printed black and white label. Together the pieces offer a pleasing contrast of colour and shape for display or study.

Condition and Collector Interest

The bottles show the expected signs of age and handling, including surface wear, scratches, and marks to the paper labels, with the Klorodyne label showing staining and loss. The stoppers, where present, have not been tested, and the contents of all bottles are not included. The leather pouch shows wear consistent with age, and the press stud remains in place. Their combination of pharmacy labelling, coloured glass and a branded smelling salts case makes this lot appealing to collectors of medical and pharmaceutical ephemera, bottle enthusiasts and those furnishing a period-style display.
