Vintage Tin of Assorted Pens, Parker Ballpoint and Practice Bullet
This lot comprises a red-and-white tin, printed with the lettering of a cocktail assortment, containing a mixed group of vintage writing instruments and curios. The principal pen is a red Parker ballpoint, presented in its clear plastic case with a card sleeve printed with the Parker name and script logo. Alongside it sit several other pens and propelling pencils in metal and celluloid, including barrels in marbled blue and green, black with a chrome clip, and a cream-coloured example with a tapered nib. A large brass practice bullet, with a drilled hole to its body, is a notable item of military interest, and the tin also holds a small Union Jack flag, a brass token and a gold-coloured card wallet.
Condition and Collectability
The pens and ephemera show the expected age-related wear, including scuffs, tarnish to the brass and some marking to the tin’s paintwork and interior. The Parker box is creased and the card sleeve is worn, while the other pens have not been tested and are sold as seen, so no assurance can be given as to their working order. The mixed contents, with the tin itself, make this an appealing lot for collectors of vintage stationery, advertising tins and militaria, as well as for those who enjoy assembling a themed display of ephemera.
