A Vintage Atomic Stick Stand and Coat Rack
This lot comprises a vintage atomic-style stick stand and a matching wall-mounted coat rack. The stick stand features a tall central rod topped with a curved hook handle, with several splayed metal rods rising from a central dish-shaped base. Its ball-tipped ends are finished in green, orange, red and blue. The coat rack is formed from a V-shaped metal frame with a series of coloured ball hooks in red, yellow, green, orange and blue, and it has two fixing points for mounting to a wall. Together, the pieces reflect the bold, playful styling associated with atomic-era domestic design.
Condition and Collectability
The stick stand shows an aged, rust-toned finish across its metalwork, consistent with its age, and the coat rack displays some signs of wear. Both pieces retain their original coloured ball finials, which are central to their period character. Pieces of this kind are of interest to collectors of mid-century and atomic-age design, as well as to buyers looking for distinctive retro hallway storage. Prospective bidders are encouraged to inspect the lot carefully before bidding.
