A Vintage Brass Mortar and Pestle
This vintage brass mortar and pestle comprises a footed bowl with a matching pestle. The bowl has a flared rim that tapers down to a short pedestal foot, and its outer wall is decorated with several bands of fine incised lines. The pestle has a slender shaft with turned knops and a rounded terminal, and both pieces display a brushed, satin finish. No maker’s name is given.
Condition and Collectable Appeal
The surface shows a brushed finish with light scratches and general marks consistent with its vintage age. The banded decoration and traditional pedestal form may appeal to collectors of vintage brass, kitchenalia and apothecary-style wares. Buyers should consider the age and surface wear when bidding.
