Vintage Bush TR82/97 Portable Transistor Radios
This lot comprises two vintage Bush TR82/97 portable transistor radios, offered as a pair. Both units are presented with their original carry handles and are finished in a two-tone scheme of cream and maroon.
Bush is a long-established British manufacturer, and the TR82/97 is a portable transistor set in the style of its era. Each radio features a cream front with a ribbed grille, a large circular tuning dial with a central knob and a maroon-coloured dial face. The dial is marked with the names of stations and wavebands, including Light, London, Midland, Welsh and Medium. Band selector buttons for FM, MW and LW are set into the top panel, and a wire carry handle is fitted to each case.
Condition and Collector Appeal
Both radios show the general signs of age and use expected of vintage portable sets, including light marks and wear to the casings. The original cream and maroon colourway, the moulded grilles and the dial detailing are all visible, and the pair is offered as a matching set. Retro Bush transistor radios of this type are popular with collectors of mid-century British design and with those seeking decorative vintage pieces for display. Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos.
