Vintage Car Parts and Motoring Collection Lot
This lot brings together a mixed selection of vintage and classic motoring items. Included are a Smiths speedometer, a Smiths ammeter with a charge and discharge scale, a chrome-trimmed heater control panel, an Austin light switch, and a wooden-cased unit with switches. The vendor describes the heater controls as 1960s Mustang or Mercury items. Printed literature is also included: Triumph Instruction Manual No. 4 covering the Twenty-One (3TA), Speed Twin (5TA) and Tiger 100 (T100A) models, a Bartholomew Vintage Veteran and Edwardian Motoring History Map of Britain, and The Motor Manual, compiled by the staff of Motor. A black Morris mudflap bearing a wings-and-crest badge completes the lot.
Condition and Collector Interest
The items show the wear and marks expected of age. The speedometer and ammeter have worn finishes and paint loss to their surrounds, the red-cased speedometer mechanism is exposed, and the heater control trim shows chrome wear and fading to its labels. Printed items show ageing to their covers and pages. No item in this lot has been confirmed as complete, working or fully original. The Triumph 3TA, 5TA and Tiger 100 manual, the Smiths instruments and the Morris badge are likely to appeal to enthusiasts restoring Triumph motorcycles, classic Morris vehicles or 1960s American car interiors, and to collectors of period motoring ephemera.
