Vintage Carlsberg Special Brew Commemorative Bottle, Churchill Visit
This vintage brown glass bottle of Carlsberg Special Brew was issued in commemoration of the visit of The Right Honourable Winston S. Churchill to Copenhagen, with the event dated 9th to 12th October. The bottle is fitted with a crown cap and a silver-coloured foil neck wrap, with green Carlsberg lettering visible on the foil. The front label is a shaped design featuring a crown, a green V motif, and two flags, one of which is the Union Flag, above the Carlsberg Special Brew wording. The label text reads “In commemoration of the visit of The Right Honourable Winston S. Churchill”. The reverse label, printed in red and cream, describes the high gravity lager, states that it requires no further storage prior to consumption, gives recommended storage and serving temperatures of 45 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and is marked “Not for sale”.
Condition, Originality and Collector Appeal
The bottle presents with the original front and reverse labels, which show edge wear, light marking and some fading consistent with age. The foil neck wrap and crown cap appear to be in place, though the foil shows signs of age. The glass is free of any obvious cracks or chips in the views provided, and the reverse label has minor creasing at the edges. The contents have not been tested and the bottle is offered as a collectable vintage item only. Its Churchill commemorative link, Danish brewery branding and label design should appeal to collectors of wartime and post-war memorabilia, brewery ephemera and vintage Carlsberg material.
