Tin of Vintage British Classic Car Badges
This lot comprises a quantity of vintage British car badges and emblems, many of them chrome-finished script or lettered pieces, together with a number of smaller fittings, housed in a grey-painted metal storage tin with a hinged lid and a fold-down clasp. Among the badges are examples lettered Riley, Sovereign, Austin, Capri, Hillman, Avenger, Vauxhall and Victor, along with a rectangular plaque reading Special and a blue-and-white Hillman enamelled tag. The tin itself bears a paper label and the partial name Sykes-Pickavant Ltd. The varied lettering styles, from raised script to flat-lettered plates, make this a diverse selection for enthusiasts of mid-twentieth-century British motoring.
Age-Related Wear and Collector Appeal
The badges show the marks of age, with surface wear, scuffing and some discolouration to the chrome and painted finishes, and the tin shows rust spotting and paint loss. Most pieces are sold as seen, and no assessment has been made of their functionality or whether any are complete fittings. Items of this kind are often sought by restorers and collectors seeking original period pieces for vehicles or for display, and the mix of marques in one lot offers an accessible way to build or extend a collection of classic British motoring memorabilia.
