Vintage Gedore Socket Set in Blue Metal Case
This lot is a vintage Gedore socket set housed in a blue metal carrying case with a folding carry handle and twin clasps. The case lid bears the embossed Gedore name, identifying the set’s manufacturer. The contents comprise a quantity of chrome sockets in a range of drive sizes and depths, a ratchet handle, a number of extension bars, a cranked breaker bar with a black grip, and an assortment of adaptors and a universal joint. The sockets are finished in polished chrome with engraved markings, and the set has the robust, practical character associated with mid-century German hand tools.
Condition and Collectability
The blue metal case shows clear signs of age and use, with areas of paint loss, scuffing and small rust spots, particularly across the lid and around the hinges. The chrome components show general wear consistent with use, with some surface marks to the sockets and bars. The case’s embossed branding and original tray layout remain intact, which adds to the originality of the presentation. Vintage Gedore tools are sought after by collectors of workshop tools and by enthusiasts who value traditional, well-made hand tools, so this lot may appeal to those wishing to display or restore an early set.
