A Vintage German Gilt Desk Alarm Clock
This lot is a vintage German desk alarm clock by Goldbuhl, dating from circa 1950s. It has a round gilt case with a raised, pierced scrolling band around its circumference, a carrying handle with a ball finial on top, and three small ball feet. The clock is decorative in character and is presented as a period piece of German manufacture.
The face is set behind glass and bears a gilt dial with embossed scrollwork around the centre. The hour markers are white cartouches with black Roman numerals, and the Goldbuhl name is displayed on the dial in script. The hands are black, and the dial combines the ornate gilt treatment of the case with a more functional numeral layout.
Condition and Collector Interest
The gilt finish shows light wear consistent with the age of the piece, and the dial and numerals appear to be original. The clock is offered as seen, without any warranty as to its working order. Buyers interested in mid-century German desk clocks and decorative gilt timepieces may find this a characterful example to research further, display or add to a collection.
