GPO Gauge No9

This is a vintage GPO Gauge No9, manufactured by Hill of Birmingham in 1958. This pocket-sized weighing instrument was originally used by the General Post Office for accurately weighing letters and small parcels. The gauge features a spring-loaded mechanism with a calibrated scale, allowing for precise measurement up to 6lb. The construction is primarily metal, showcasing a robust and functional design typical of mid-century engineering.

Condition and Collectibility

This GPO Gauge No9 exhibits signs consistent with age and use. The metal shows some patina and minor wear, which adds to its vintage character. While the mechanism appears intact, the functionality has not been tested. This gauge would be of interest to collectors of postal memorabilia, vintage tools, or weighing instruments, and would make a unique addition to a display or collection.
