Vintage Marx Famous Racing Car with Friction Drive
This lot offers a vintage Marx Famous Racing Car with friction drive, presented with its original box. Marx was a well-known American toy manufacturer, and this red open-wheel racing car is finished in a bold red with a white nose panel and the racing number 2. The car has a moulded plastic body with a clear domed canopy over the cockpit, and a seated driver figure is fitted in place. Visible features include silver-finished engine detailing, twin exhaust-style pipes and four wheels with dark rubber tyres and metallic hubs.
Condition, Originality and Collector Appeal
The car and its box are offered as seen, and the box shows general signs of age, including wear to the edges and corners and some tearing to the card. The graphics on the box, including the Famous Racing Car title, the Marx branding and the friction drive wording, remain legible and contribute to the lot’s appeal. Boxed vintage Marx toys of this type are sought after by collectors of mid-century toy vehicles and by enthusiasts of racing car memorabilia, and the presence of the original packaging adds to its interest. Prospective buyers are encouraged to view the lot carefully and consider the stated condition before bidding.
