A Vintage Metal-Bound Steamer Trunk
This vintage metal-bound steamer trunk is offered as a characterful piece of travel luggage with a strong period appearance. The lid and body are edged with silver-tone metal bands secured by rows of rivets, and the corners are reinforced with metal brackets. The lid carries a central decorative lock plate, with further latches to the front and sides. The interior is lined in a grey-green material and the trunk opens to a deep, uncluttered well, suited to storage or display. No maker’s name is visible on the piece.
Condition and Originality
The trunk shows the wear expected of an item of its age and former use. The metal bands and rivets remain in place, and the fittings and latch mechanisms are present. The interior lining shows marks, discolouration and some surface wear, particularly around the edges of the lid. The metalwork shows surface marks and some loss of finish in places. Its largely original construction and period hardware will appeal to collectors of antique luggage and to buyers seeking an authentic metal-bound trunk for decorative or practical use. Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.
#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
