Vintage Optimus No 407 Paraffin Blowtorch
This is a vintage brass paraffin blowtorch by Optimus, model No 407, offered as a collectable piece of workshop equipment. Its rounded brass fuel reservoir, pump plunger and black flame-directing burner head show the traditional form of this type of tool.
The body is marked with the Optimus name and “Made in Sweden”, together with the model designation “Optimus No 407” stamped on the side of the reservoir. The tool features a black-finished burner head with a slotted housing, a brass filler cap with a knurled edge, and a brass pump fitted to the side. A green-coloured loop handle and a brass control valve sit on the right-hand side of the body, while a black metal strap is fixed to the left. Please note that this lot is sold as a vintage item and no operational testing has been carried out.
Condition and Collectability
The brass body shows an even, warm patina consistent with age and use, with some surface marks and scuffing, particularly around the base and the reservoir. The burner housing and fittings retain their original black finish, and the stamped maker’s markings remain legible on the body. Any further wear or ageing is reflected in the photographs and should be considered by the buyer.
