Vintage Wooden Printers Block Tray with Letterpress Blocks
This vintage printers block tray is a wooden storage tray divided into a grid of small compartments, many of which hold printing blocks. The tray is fitted with brass corner dividers and brackets at its edges. Its layout of open cells, mixed with the blocks set into them, reflects the traditional form of the printer’s type case. The blocks appear to be metal and carry raised pictorial designs, including animals, figures and decorative motifs. Some compartments are left empty.
Condition and Collector Appeal
The tray shows the wear expected of an item of its age, with visible marks and darkening to the timber and brass. The blocks are presented as a collection stuck in place within the compartments, and the arrangement is distinctive as found. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. #### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
