## A Vintage Rabone Chesterman Tape Measure & Spirit Level

This is a vintage Rabone Chesterman tape measure incorporating a spirit level. The body is constructed from a durable material, likely brass or a brass alloy, and features a rotating hand crank for retracting the steel tape. The spirit level is integrated into the top of the case, providing a combined measuring and levelling tool. The case displays the “Rabone Chesterman” branding, indicative of a well-respected British manufacturer known for quality instruments.

## Condition & Collectibility

The tape measure shows signs consistent with age and use, including surface wear and patina. The tape itself may exhibit some wear, and the spirit level bubble may not be perfectly centred. Despite this, the instrument remains a fascinating piece of tool history, appealing to collectors of antique measuring instruments, tool enthusiasts, and those interested in vintage craftsmanship. It would make a unique display piece or a functional addition to a workshop, retaining a tangible connection to a bygone era of precision engineering.
