Railway Pay Tokens

This lot comprises a collection of vintage railway pay tokens, each bearing unique identification numbers and lettering. The tokens represent various railway companies, including LMR (London Midland Region) and others, and showcase the systems used for employee payment or accounting within the railway network. These tokens are small, circular, and made of metal, displaying embossed numbers and abbreviations indicative of their origin and purpose.

Condition and Collectability

The tokens exhibit signs of age and use, with varying degrees of wear and patina, consistent with their history. While not pristine, they retain their embossed details and remain legible. These tokens are of interest to railwayana collectors, historians, and those fascinated by the social and economic history of British railways. They offer a tangible connection to a bygone era of railway operation.
