Vintage Record Steel Bench Vice, Model 83
This vintage Record Steel bench vice, model 83, is a traditional workshop vice offered as a single lot. It is bolt-down style, with a fixed base and a sliding jaw operated by a long lever arm with a rounded handle. The body carries the Record Steel name cast in relief on its front face, and the base has a mounting hole for securing it to a workbench. The vice has a substantial, practical form typical of mid-twentieth-century workshop equipment.
Condition and Collector Appeal
The vice shows clear signs of age and use. The original blue paintwork is largely worn and flaking, with brown surface discolouration and rust across much of the body, and the jaws show some wear. The lever arm and handle are present. No further testing has been carried out, so its operation is not confirmed. Buyers interested in vintage tools, workshop heritage or restoration projects may find this a characterful example of an established British tool brand, with its original finish still visible in places.
