Collection of Vintage Sportsman’s Book Club Sports Books

This lot comprises a collection of vintage sports books, housed in a blue plastic storage crate and a further group laid out alongside it. The collection is drawn from the Sportsman’s Book Club and covers a broad range of sporting subjects, including cricket, football, tennis and boxing. Visible titles include Hit for Six by Gerald Brodribb, Batter’s Castle by Ian Peebles, Soccer Tactics by Bernard Joy, Tennis in Our Time by Susan Noel, Jack Johnson & His Times by Batchelor, A Typhoon Called Tyson by Frank Tyson and The Fight Game. The group includes both paperback titles with coloured pictorial spines and hardback volumes in red boards with decorative sporting illustrations to the covers.

Condition and Collector Appeal

The books show the expected signs of age and use for their period, with visible wear, fading and marking to the spines and covers. Some of the paperbacks display creasing and edge wear, and several of the red hardbacks have marked or worn dust jackets. Titles are not individually described here, and buyers are encouraged to view the lot in person. The group will appeal to collectors of sporting literature, particularly those interested in mid-twentieth-century cricket, boxing and football writing, and to those seeking a themed collection of vintage sports titles together in one lot.

We operate a soft close format, the auction will be extended by 3 minutes if a bid is placed in the closing 3 minutes. Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. Please be aware that once a bid is placed we will not be able to issue any refunds unless there is a clear and obvious error made by ourselves in the item title, in the event of an incorrect bid being placed, you must contact us on the mobile phone number 07904 339160/description.

Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.

#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
