Vintage Steiff Polar Bear and Vintage Clockwork Clown
This lot pairs a vintage Steiff small polar bear with a vintage clockwork clown. The bear is a traditional Steiff piece, presented in a pale cream-coloured mohair. The clown is a mechanical toy with a moulded face, a green knitted-style jumper with a white collar, blue and white gingham trousers, a red felt hat and red shoes. It holds a pair of metal cymbals and has a key fitted at its side, consistent with its clockwork mechanism.
Condition and Collector Interest
The bear shows clear signs of age, with wear to the mohair, darker patches and areas of thinning around the muzzle. The clown shows general age-related wear to its clothing and hands, and the painted face appears intact. Buyers should note that condition is described as seen and that prospective bidders are welcome to enquire before the sale. Both pieces will appeal to collectors of vintage Steiff bears and mid-century clockwork toys, particularly those interested in items with visible age and character.
