Vintage Universe Tin Plate Stunt Car in Original Box
This lot comprises a vintage Universe tin plate Stunt Car, offered together with its original box. The toy is presented as a futuristic space-style vehicle in the Universe range, with a streamlined blue body and a bold red finned tail section.
The Stunt Car is finished in blue with red detailing to the tail fins, the nose cone and the rear section. The name “Universe” appears on the side of the body, along with the words “Stunt Car” in white lettering. A clear plastic canopy covers the cockpit, through which a seated figure is visible. Further features include a red rear light, a finned tail, and a ventilated grille on the nose. The original box is decorated with an illustration of the vehicle and is described as a battery operated toy with eight different tricks.
Condition and Collectability
The box shows general wear, including edge creasing and marking to the top flaps and sides, consistent with its age. The Stunt Car itself displays surface marks and signs of age commensurate with a vintage tin plate toy. Original boxed examples of Universe tin toys are sought after by collectors of retro space-themed and Japanese tin plate toys, and the presence of the original packaging, with its striking illustrated artwork, adds considerable interest to this lot.
