Two Vintage Wooden Engineers Boxes
This lot comprises two vintage wooden engineers boxes, each fitted with a number of small drawers and a hinged lid that drops down to form a flat working surface. Both are finished in warm timber tones and would suit those seeking traditional storage for small tools, components, or workshop sundries. The pieces are offered as a pair.
The box on the left has a metal carrying handle fitted to the top and visible corner joints to its frame. Its drawers are fronted with turned wooden knobs and run in a stepped arrangement, with a compartment set centrally between the upper drawers. The lid is secured with a small brass-coloured plate. The second box is similar in construction, with knobs to its drawer fronts and a brass-coloured plate to its drop-down lid, and it is presented alongside the first.
Condition and Collectability
Both boxes show general signs of age and use, including scuffing and marks to the tops and lids, with some wear visible to the timber surfaces. Further ageing is apparent to the lid faces, which show light surface marking throughout. Buyers should inspect the pieces closely before bidding, as no further details of their working order have been established. Vintage engineers boxes of this kind are sought after by collectors of workshop antiques and by those who appreciate the practical, hand-finished character of traditional wooden storage, and a matching pair may appeal to buyers wishing to display or use them together.
