Vintage Wooden Presentation Chest
This vintage miniature chest is a wooden presentation piece, described as a musical chest and offered with a retirement dedication. The lid carries a plate reading “PRESENTED TO C.W. SHRUBSOLE FROM HOUSING OFFICE ON RETIREMENT”. The box has a flat, hinged lid with rivet-style studs along its edges and a front panelled with vertical strips and a raised central block. Its short, square legs support the case. Two brass hinges attach the lid, and the interior is lined with a pale timber.
Condition and Collector Interest
The chest shows general wear consistent with its age, including surface marks on the timber and some marking to the interior lining. The lid and body appear intact, and the lettering on the plate is still clear. The musical function is not demonstrated in the photographs, so it is offered as seen. The piece will appeal to collectors of vintage workplace presentation items and retirement keepsakes, and to those drawn to personalised, mid-century style wooden boxes with a documented recipient.

Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.
#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
