A Mixed Lot of Four Pocket Lighters

This lot brings together four pocket lighters, including two chrome lighters that the lot notes describe as Zippo lighters, a gold-tone engine-turned lighter that the notes identify as a Colibri, and a lighter with a mottled brown and gold finish presented in a Comoys case. The pieces are offered as a small group for collectors of smoking accessories and vintage lighters. The Comoys case is set against a blue interior and carries the words “Comoys of London” and “Elegance” in gold lettering, which is visible in the photographs.

The two chrome lighters have a flat, rectangular profile, with one showing a plain front and the other a finely engraved or scratched surface. Both open to reveal the chrome-finished interior and wick assembly, which is visible in the second photograph. The gold-tone Colibri-style piece has a textured, diamond-patterned body with a plain panel to the front and a hinged top. The mottled, tortoiseshell-style lighter sits in the Comoys case, its brown and amber pattern set within a gold-toned frame. Individually, the pieces offer a range of styles, from utilitarian chrome to decorative gold and patterned finishes.

Condition and Collector Interest

Wear is visible across the group. The chrome lighters show light scratches and general surface marks, most noticeably on the engraved example, and the gold-tone piece shows wear to its gilt surface and a dark patch on the front panel. The patterned lighter appears to be in good order within its case, with the case itself showing only light handling. The photographs cannot confirm whether any of the lighters function, and no statement is made regarding their working order, so buyers should make their own assessment. The variety of finishes, the Comoys presentation case and the named makers may appeal to collectors of vintage smoking accessories looking to add to a themed group.
