Voltaire Pocket Book
This is a small, leather-bound pocket book, likely dating to the 18th or 19th century. The cover is a muted grey-blue, with gilt detailing around the edges. A faded ribbon bookmark is still attached. The book’s diminutive size suggests it was intended for convenient carrying and private reading, a common practice amongst those with literary interests during the period.
Condition and Collectibility
The book shows significant signs of age and wear, with the leather cover exhibiting scuffs, discoloration, and some loss of material. Despite its condition, this pocket book holds appeal for collectors of antique books, particularly those interested in the works of Voltaire or the history of bookbinding. Its small size and portable nature add to its charm and historical significance, offering a glimpse into the reading habits of a bygone era.
