W & T Avery Cast Iron Enamelled Scales with Weights
Offered here is a set of W & T Avery cast iron enamelled scales with a selection of brass weights. The scales have a white enamelled base with a black cast iron frame, a dark cast iron pan and a white enamelled weighing platform. The W.T.AVERY name is cast into the central beam. Two brass weights with pierced handles and turned bodies are presented on the platform, and a white plastic tub contains a quantity of further assorted brass and metal weights.
Condition and Collectability
The scales show the age and use expected of a piece of this type, including discolouration to the cast iron pan and general wear to the enamel. The brass weights show tarnish, marks and surface wear consistent with long handling. The assorted weights in the tub vary in size, form and finish. Lots of this kind appeal to collectors of antique weighing equipment, kitchen collectables and traditional brass weights, and the combination of a branded Avery scale with a group of matching weights offers scope for display or practical use. Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.
#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
