British No5 Jungle Bayonet
This is a British No5 Jungle Bayonet, a military knife designed for use with the Lee Enfield rifle during World War II and post-war conflicts. Featuring a long, single-edged blade and a distinctive hilt designed for easy grip even with gloves, this bayonet was specifically developed for jungle warfare, offering a balance of cutting and thrusting capabilities. The bayonet is accompanied by its scabbard, designed for secure carry on a soldier’s webbing.
Condition and Collectibility
This bayonet exhibits signs consistent with age and military use. The blade shows some patina and minor wear, while the hilt and scabbard display typical wear and tear. This bayonet would be of interest to collectors of military memorabilia, particularly those focused on British weaponry from the Second World War and subsequent conflicts. It represents a significant piece of military history and a tangible link to the soldiers who carried it.
