Watercolour Paintings
This lot comprises two antique watercolour paintings, both framed. One depicts a three-masted sailing ship, identified as HMS Victoria, signed ‘F.C.S.’ and dated 18/10/26, likely 1892. The second watercolour portrays a tranquil river landscape with a small sailboat, featuring trees and distant hills. Both paintings showcase a delicate hand and a traditional style typical of 19th-century British watercolour artistry.
Condition and Collectibility
Both watercolours exhibit signs of age and wear, consistent with their antique status. The frames show some wear and minor imperfections. These paintings would appeal to collectors of maritime art, historical naval memorabilia, or 19th-century landscapes. The HMS Victoria painting, in particular, offers a glimpse into naval history and the artistry of the period.
