Welsh Miners Lamp
This is a traditional Welsh miners lamp, a vital piece of equipment used in British coal mining during the 19th and 20th centuries. These lamps were designed to provide illumination in the dark and dangerous conditions of underground coal mines, while also incorporating safety features to prevent gas explosions. The lamp features a brass construction and a protective cage around the flame, typical of designs intended for use in gassy environments.
Condition & Collectibility
The lamp shows signs consistent with age and use, exhibiting a patina and wear that speaks to its history. While the lamp’s functionality is not assessed, it presents as a desirable item for collectors of mining memorabilia, industrial history enthusiasts, or those interested in Welsh heritage. Its authentic appearance and historical significance make it a compelling piece for display or further research.
